Age-Friendly Accessibility Plan - Have your say!
The City of Kimberley is developing an Age-Friendly Accessibility Plan to improve life for people of all abilities, especially those with disabilities and those aged 55 and older. The goal is to make Kimberley a safe, healthy, and inclusive community.
What Is an Accessible and Age-Friendly City? These cities focus on social and physical environments, including:
- Land use and street connectivity
- Access to green spaces
- Safe and inclusive neighbourhood design
- Features that maintain social connections
These improvements foster a sense of belonging and community identity.
Plan development involves broad community engagement, gathering input from people with accessibility needs, older adults, caregivers, service providers, and the general community. To build the most inclusive plan, the City is looking for feedback from all residents and visitors, including members of the Indigenous community, 2SLGBTQIA+ people, and members of other language and culture groups. Engagement activities will run from February to mid-March.
