Parks and Facilities Master Plan
Update: May 6th, 2024 - Thank you for your comments on the draft Parks and Facilities Master Plan! The feedback period is now closed. Stay tuned for the final plan to become available in June 2024.
The City of Kimberley has developed a draft Parks and Facilities Master Plan. The Master Plan will guide how the City provides and invests in parks and recreation services (facilities, programs, and events) over the next 10 years.
The Master Plan was developed to ensure that future decision-making is informed and best aligned with community needs. More specifically, the Master Plan process enabled the City to:
- Analyze the current state of parks and recreation.
- Identify trends (emerging interests, changes in activity preferences, etc.).
- Establish focus areas for capital facility investment and programming.
- Identify opportunities to optimize service delivery.

Forest Crowne needs a childrens playground and picnic area for young and old to share public green space for play and leisure space.
Playground and park in Forest Crowne
The trails are great for walking but kids need a destination. Families need a place to meet. All residents could benefit from a field where they could throw frisbees or play soccer or picnic. Surprised that allocated ‘green spaces’ are now lots. Dismayed that Anthem is not being held accountable to the promise of a playground and/or park.
Forest Crowne residents need safe biking access to the Mark Creek trail on the east side of Hwy 95A at the entrance to Forest Crowne
Forest Crowne - Parks and Access Improvement
There is a severe need for a physical playground for growing population of families in the area and safe integrated access to city trail system Since moving to Kimberley in 2020, we have seen a strong increase in young families with kids under the age of 10 entering Forest Crowne. I don’t have exact numbers, but easily 35+ at the moment and growing constantly. We have nowhere for our kids to gather and safely play in the neighbourhood and there are ample spaces identified for the City to…
Updating civic centre fees for Dynamiters
The town really needs to revisit the current agreement. The team is important to the town but providing the team with all concession and advertising revenue is unfair to the town. No charge for practice time either doesn’t make sense. The team has a great source of revenue with ticket sales and sharing advertising and concessions seems more equitable.

Keep 2 sheets of permanent ice and add an outdoor rink to marysville.
From very young to old, our arenas are utilized. Not everything needs to be a ‘money maker’ to make the investment worth it. The rinks are part of what makes Kimberley so special and active! Keep both arenas running!
Get rid of the rock cover in our Rotary Park playground
This Nana turned her ankle walking on the coarse rock cover at the Rotary Park playground. I've seen rubber mats suggested - I second that idea. Anything would be better than what's there now.
Safer crossing option for Rails to Trails
Underpass for Marysville Rails to Trails highway crossing, or at the very least some pedestrian lights would be good in the short term.
Winter activity options
Dedicated lighted area for tobogganing, tubing, sliding activities.
Connect the bike trails
Increase the connection between all the different areas to bike (Nature Centre, Rails to Trails, Nordic Centre, etc)
Move pickle ball courts
The noise is ruining the Blarchmont neighbourhood
Marysville skate park
I think there should be a skate park in marysville
Maryville skatepark
Enhance water front park at st Mary’s avenue flume location. All age groups use this location. Shade trees, grass, picnic tables etc.
Upgrade the spray park to recirculate its water
Spray parks typically use approx 100gallons of water per minute when in use. Currently that water is draining into the ground and is suspected to be causing problems for the curling rink. This water should be recirculated back into the spray park.
Relocate Pickleball to a nonresidential area
The noise from pickleball paddles/balls has a significant impact on the residential area surrounding it. It should be moved to support the growth of the activity and reduce the impact on the neighbourhood.
General idea:Parks blended with nature. Eg.Part of the nature park with bridges, zip line, tree fort, animal silhouettes, mini via Ferrata.
Outdoor wilderness adventure park
