Kimberley’s Resort Development Strategy: Shaping the Future of Tourism

Kimberley is proud to be one of 14 communities in British Columbia designated as a Resort Municipality under the Province’s Resort Municipality Initiative (RMI). This program provides funding to help small, tourism-focused towns like ours to:

  • Enhance and diversify tourism infrastructure,
  • Create outstanding visitor experiences, and
  • Promote sustainable tourism practices.

We’ve now completed the development of Kimberley’s Resort Development Strategy (RDS) for the 2025/26–2027/28 term. This strategy outlines the key projects we plan to undertake using our share of RMI funding—and we’re excited to share it with the community. Check it out below.

We want to hear from you!

Your feedback is important as we move forward. We invite you to review the strategy and share your thoughts, ideas, and questions. As individual projects roll out, we’ll work with relevant tourism stakeholders to identify potential locations and implementation approaches to ensure they reflect community values and priorities.

Together, we can continue to grow Kimberley as a vibrant, welcoming, accessible, and sustainable resort destination.
